Coffeehouses to Try in Savannah

Coffeehouses to Try in Savannah

Savannah is a haven for coffee enthusiasts. I have always considered myself to be a coffee connoisseur of sorts, and I am always searching for hip and cool cafes. During my Ph.D., coffeehouses have also become an ideal place for me to get studying done. I think I speak for 99% of graduate students when I say that leaving our apartments to study is a procrastination cure! I would also like to mention that not all coffeehouses are alike. Savannah is an extremely popular tourist destination, so one can expect a lot of hustle and bustle in the downtown area. I believe I have found my niche regarding coffeehouses. Here is a lineup of my most frequently visited cafes in the city of Savannah:

Cup to Cup Cafe

Cup to Cup Cafe

Location: 140 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31401

Cup to Cup Cafe located on Abercorn Street, is situated between beautiful squares and breathtaking historic homes. This coffeehouse is truly a hidden gem because it is tucked away on the quaintest corner of Abercorn Street. Once inside, you can find a variety of sweet treats from River Street Sweets, exotic coffee, and the cutest trinkets.

Cup to Cup Cafe is definitely located in the dreamiest portion of Abercorn Street. I typically park one block down from the coffeehouse just to take in all the beauty that the neighborhood has to offer!

Abercorn Street

Although indoor seating is not available at the moment, I was content with gazing out the window while I waited for my coffee. Did I mention that Cup to Cup is located in one of the most walkable areas in Savannah?!

Iced caramel latte

I was thoroughly satisfied with my choice of coffee at Cup to Cup Cafe. I do recommend the iced lattes.

Perc Coffee

Location: 1802 E Broad St, Savannah, GA 31401

Perc Coffee has become a favorite of locals and tourists alike. I live downtown, and to get away from the constant hustle and bustle, I take a short drive to Perc Coffee to get my study sessions in. Perc Coffee is a coffeehouse that brings me so much nostalgia. I absolutely love the bohemian and industrial vibe that this eclectic coffeehouse exudes! Perc Coffee also has bagged coffee, mugs, and equipment for customers to purchase.

Although it is hip and cool, Perc has such a warm and welcoming environment to locals and tourists. Whenever I go, I usually stay for hours. Also, while studying at Perc, I meet other doctoral students who are also there to get their studying accomplished.

Coquito latte

I have tried many varieties of coffee at Perc. However, the Coquito latte definitely remains my favorite!

Origin Coffee Bar

Location: 356 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, On the corner of Jones & MLK Jr Blvd, Savannah, Georgia 31401-4379

Located near Historic Downtown Savannah, Origin Coffee Bar is a breath of fresh air. This coffeehouse also sells bagged coffee and many accessories for locals and tourists to purchase. Because of the location, Origin can get crowded pretty quickly by tourists getting their coffee fix. However, this coffeehouse has plenty of seating available for its patrons. Since this is the historic district, parking can be a bit tricky. But if you arrive early enough, street parking is available directly in front.

Be prepared for your mouth to water when seeing all the delicious pastries on display. I am a chocolate fanatic, so when I saw the last chocolate croissant, I had to get it! Origin’s chocolate croissants pair so nicely with their lattes, especially the cafe mocha!

Gallery Espresso

Location: 234 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31401

Known as Savannah’s oldest coffeehouse, Gallery Espresso is wildly reminiscent of the Central Perk Cafe from the hit show Friends. Inside this spacious coffeehouse, you will find it beautifully decorated with vintage pieces of art and furniture. Gallery Espresso is located on Bull Street across from one of the most beautiful squares in Savannah. Due to its convenient location, it is frequented by diverse groups of students, professionals, and tourists.

Various coffees at Gallery Espresso

At Gallery Espresso, you will find an array of coffee flavors to choose from. Like many other coffeehouses in Savannah, Gallery Espresso has coffee beans, accessories, and equipment available for purchase. During most days of the week, Gallery Espresso is normally crowded from open to close. However, do not let that stop you from going in for a scrumptious dessert or bagel and a delicious coffee. I nearly forgot to add, they also serve wine!

Hazelnut latte

I opted for the hazelnut latte, and I definitely recommend it!

The coffeehouses mentioned are only a few of the countless cafes in the Savannah area. These coffeehouses are also some of the best locations for students to set up their study areas, which is a huge benefit to me! Stay tuned for more student-friendly and trendy locations in Savannah.
